Sandy

 andy
McCallum has over forty five years as an
actor and stage director at Resident theaters throughout the
US in addition to film work in the US and Britain, and written
work published in Canada and Australia.
Born in Canada, Sandy was raised on a farm during
the great depression where he attended a one room schoolhouse.
After high school he attained a degree in meteorology and spent
the first six years in the Yukon Territory. His hobby became
writing poems about the Yukon, its characters and yarns of miners
and prospectors. With more luck than good management, he began
his radio and television career in the fifties. While attending
a theater workshop in Banff, Sir Tyrone Guthrie, later a frequent
house guest, invited Sandy to join The
Guthrie Theater Company in Minneapolis. He has since worked
at most major theaters in the United States as well as Broadway,
television and film both in the U.S. and Great Britain. The
father of five children, he and his wife of more than fifty
years now reside in Ashland, Oregon, where he has been employed
at The
Oregon Shakespeare Festival for the past several
years
